East Matunuck is a south-facing beach break that picks up south and southeast swells readily, making it one of the more active spots in Rhode Island during summer months. It also lights up with northeast storm swells in fall and winter. The beach is part of the Rhode Island state park system and sees a mix of surfers from beginners to experienced locals. Best conditions are typically early morning before onshore winds fill in.
