Scarborough Beach State Park sits on Prouts Neck, about 10 miles south of Portland. It’s one of the most exposed and consistent beach breaks in southern Maine, picking up swell from a wide window and holding size well. About the Break
Scarborough is a long sand beach break exposed to south and southeast swells, with enough width to spread the crowd out even on a good day. It works across tide stages and holds up better in wind than more sheltered spots nearby. It’s a popular stop for the Portland-area surf community, along with neighboring Higgins Beach just to the north.
