About the Break

The waters around Morro Rock and the harbor mouth can produce a workable wave on the right swell, though the bay itself is more sheltered estuary than open coast, and most of the surfing action happens just outside the harbor entrance. As a sand-bottom beach break, it’s generally well suited to longboarders, intermediate surfers, and anyone working on their pop-up — more forgiving than reef or point breaks, without a sharp takeoff zone or fixed hazard.
