Pismo Beach is California’s classic Central Coast beach town, and the pier serves as the focal point for both the town and the surf scene. Experience Pismo Beach (the local tourism board) hosts a free live cam looking at the pier and surf.
About the Break
Pismo Pier produces beach break peaks on both sides of the pier. The wave is generally mellow and forgiving — Pismo isn’t a destination break for advanced surfers, but it’s a reliable, welcoming spot for beginners and intermediates. The wide, sandy beach gives you plenty of room to spread out, and the lineup is rarely competitive. Water is colder than Southern California, so bring a thicker wetsuit even in summer.
